Ben Wilson is a Jagera man from the south of Brisbane. Ben spent his early career teaching senior English in several schools, and has extensive experience in the education system, both in the private and public sector. He is an occasional guest lecturer in Indigenous Education Studies at the Queensland University of Technology and was the inaugural Stronger Smarter Teacher-in-Residence in 2011. He continues to enjoy a close relationship with the Stronger Smarter Institute, having co-facilitated several national and local programs. He has also worked for Murri Matters, helping to facilitate their leadership programs for many different organisations. In September 2011, Ben presented a paper at the Amnesty International Rights of Indigenous Peoples’ conference in Brisbane.
In January 2013, Ben founded Ben Wilson Consultancy, a business which works with organisations to help them approach complex problems in their areas of business. He is known for challenging conventional education methods and the implementation and advocacy of progressive organisational models which honour indigenous ways of knowing, thinking, and being.
